Club Tournament

There was wind, there was bunting. Flags flapped so hard it sounded like applause,

beating the white paint off the pavilion in white snow clouds. We had the spectacular ‘Wimbledon grunt’ from court one, as the men’s singles got underway at 1.00pm, which James Yates went on to win for the second year running.

Among the spectators there was support from Jenny Kentyka who turned up with her

broken foot in pink plaster, after unfortunately having to retire from the vets singles

and ladies vets doubles. In all 5 people had to withdraw with injuries in the weeks

leading up to Finals Day!

In the Men’s Open Doubles, Juniors Seb & Ollie won the first set, unnerving the

Seniors who rallied to win the second set and then the tie break.

This was Championship day and everyone did their best.

Father Day Treasure Hunt - 20th June

7 teams went to battle in the Treasure Hunt designed by last years winner John and Kathy White.

The level was just right for the range of teams that included groups of teenagers and other tams with young children and all adult affairs.

After an hour of walking round Woodbridge with no little amount of head scratching at times we all returned for a BBQ and the results!

Well done to Joan Crowsons team for getting 44/45 points

Exhibition Match Saturday 15th May 2010

Parsons puts Mansfeld to the Sword!

In what will go down in club history as a day where grduges were settled James Parsons claimed victory over his coach 6-4.

James 15 years old went 4-2 before rallying and taking advantage of the aging Mansfield to romp home and claim first blood for the youth of the club.

At the same time Anthony Orton used his superior fitness to complete aother 6-4 victory suggesting that the Clubs older coaches should be put out to pasture!

Yates Kandols Wyatt!

In the final grudge match Danny Wyatt was seeking to usuro the crown of Head Coach and Club Champion James Yates.

After an entertaining match where the crowd were very much involved veteran Yates, 15 years the senior to Wyatt was the victor 7-5.

Wyatt, convinced he could have won was devasted after the match leading to a 6-0 drubbing in the doubles to follow, however after a rallying call from his partner Anthony Orton the younger pair came back to win the 2nd set 7-3 on the tie-break.

£51 was raised towards the Ball Machine fund for the club
